World of Warcraft, Eh?

An amusing look at World of Warcraft, with just a delicate hint of Canadian humour. Goes well with a sharp cheddar. Updates Mondays. IF YOU'RE NEW HERE, I WAS HACKED A FEW WEEKS AGO. A NEW SITE UPDATE IS IN PROGRESS. THANK YOU!

‘WE’RE BACK, BABY!’- A World of Warcraft Story

January 3rd, 2010 | by Kelly
Posted In: Blog

If anyone figures out which movie I parodied the title from, you win the internet. And possibly cookies.

Man, Cadistra is a friendly lady, but she does not like this Kama guy. I mean, she arrived on the scene to her best friend in pain, and he’s just standing around, going on about some ’schedule’ that needs to be kept? Looks like she’s gonna give Kama the cold shoulder until she finds out more about this elf…

SO! We’re back! Hooray! I gotta say, even though it’s upping the workload again, it feels great to be drawing WoW Eh again. I really missed this comic! As far as the wrist, it’s actually getting worse…but the holidays are over, I’m bored, and you guys have waiting long enough. I plan to get a comic done for the week that I’m out for surgery (it’s at the end of January), so hopefully I won’t have to take any more time off. That would just be mean on my part. :(

In other news, I hope everyone had a wonderful and restful holiday. Mine wasn’t that restful, but I got to visit a lot of friends and family, and I think I ate about 1.5x my body weight! All in all, it was really wonderful, and I hope for everyone to have a happy, healthy and prosperous 2010.

Now, if you follow me on Twitter, I’ve been eating up an anime series called ‘Ghost Hunt.’ I watched in subtitled (duh), and just finished the 25-episode series earlier today. I have to say that I really enjoyed it, although the ending was a bit too anti-climactic. Also, the series ended off as if it was going to continue, but I seriously doubt it will (unless it did under a different title? Anyone know?)

The series is staring Taniyama Mai, a young girl who, after breaking an expensive camera while exploring an old schoolhouse, gets roped into being the assistant to the ‘Shibuya Psychic Research Center’ after the original assistant, Lin, is hurt.  Its leader is Kazuya Shibuya, a cold, business-like young man, and throughout the series, is joined by an ex-monk (just called ‘Monk’,) a self-styled Shinto Priestess named Ayako, an Australian Catholic priest named John, and Masako, a famous spirit medium.

The characterizations were wonderful, and even though it was a full cast of seven people, I really felt that no one got trampled over, and everyone was given ample screen time (except for Ayako, the priestess, but you find out why at the end). There were times when I was watching that I would genuinely get freaked out, like during poltergeist scenes and what-not. I honestly don’t think there’s an anime that has spooked me as much as this series has. All in all, great characters, interesting plots, and fantastic animation. I give it a must-watch. :)

Also, adding a new webcomic link to the blogroll: ‘No Pink Ponies!’ by Remy ‘Eisu’ Mohktar! I read through the entire archives over the holidays, and I love this comic! A very cute styling of a girl geek who opens a comic book store to get close to the guy she likes. Great story, great [geek] humor, and great art. Enjoy!

Hey! What’s the big ideeeaaa?

She Lives!

December 18th, 2009 | by Kelly
Posted In: Blog

Hi everyone! Yes, I live! I’m trying my hardest to solo the dreaded ‘Holiday Season’ (level ??; elite), and while it’s tough, I think I’m winning! XD Things have been super hectic, what with the holidays, birthdays, friends, family, and work (both Fit Brains and Byron).  I hope everyone is having a wonderful holiday so far! :D

On a more personal note, the wrist and the arm are getting worse. :/ No, I’m not boo-hooing, or looking for hugs or whatever, just letting you guys know. My wrist surgery is near the end of January, where I’ll be bound to the old ‘breadbag and bathtub’ way of life (having a cast) for about 7-10 days. If my left arm/hand don’t work, then I don’t work! ^_^;; (And to the guy who was bitching at me earlier for ‘not doing what I promised I would do’ – *flips the bird* )

I’ve also been allowing myself to enjoy WoW a bit more these last few weeks! (Also love how people are bitching at me for this, too…lol) Thanks to my wonderful guildies – especially our intrepid leader – I have now, after more than a year of release, finally seen the Wrathgate cinema. Yes!! I also did the Battle for Undercity last night too! I was a good cow, and never spoiled the Wrathgate for myself by watching it on YouTube or whatever. I was blown away. The entire quest line leading up to it (and all of Dragonblight, for that matter!) were some of the most thrilling and detailed quests I had done in a long time. The game truly felt personal, like I really was the brave and stalwart hero the Horde had asked for. I haven’t watched the Alliance version yet, but I will soon so I can compare the two myself. All in all, amazing.

Chillin' with my Patron Dragon

Chillin' with my Patron Dragon

Recently, I had been thinking about the long and winding path I have been taking as an artist. Even though I am by no means ‘good,’ I am an industry artist, and one day hope to be that ‘good.’ Now, while my full-time career takes priority, I am also beginning to step into the greater depths of drawing webcomics. Now, I am no Penny Arcade, I am no Scott Kurtz, and I am no Jeph Jacques. I would never attempt to make a full-time, life-supporting gig out of either WoW Eh or Byron. Anyways, if I tried, Blizzard would sick their bloodthirsty lawyers on me, and I don’t want my legs broke. D:

But, on a serious and artistic note, how ‘far’ do I want to take this? WoW Eh started out as a fun side project, but now it’s become this…entity; this artistic creature that has evolved slowly over the last year, and has now become a part of my life. I’m not trying to be all hoity-toity artsy-fartsy here, I’m just making an observation. I mean, due to legal reasons, I could never publish a book or anything of it, but I’m curious to see what will happen and how far I will take it in the future.

Or I could just be totally blabbering. I dunno. ;P

Also as this new year comes to a close, I really want to thank you all again for your love, kindness, and support for both comics. Thank you all (well, MOST of you, anyways…grrr) for understanding that December is a crazy, crazy month, and thank you all for being so patient! Go open presents, light a menorah, eat goodies, and toast to the new year these next two weeks! When you return, I’ll try my best to have the next page of WoW Eh waiting for you. :)

Supa Secret Project…REVEALED!

November 9th, 2009 | by Kelly
Posted In: Blog

Unless you missed the announcement this morning, as of today, I am officially a writer/artist for WoW.com! :D I am so excited and honored by this amazing opportunity, and I’d like to give a truly heartfelt thanks to Adam Holisky, the man who helped orchestrate this, and to the rest of the WoW.com staff for their assistance and support. Also, a HUGE thank you to all the amazing readers and fans who left such wonderful comments! o^_^o I’m not sure if I can reveal what the first major storyline will be, but I assure you that I will do my best to represent both Horde and Alliance the best I can.

To just clarify things, there will be a new comic up on WoW.com every Tuesday, one that will be unrelated to WoW, Eh?. WoW Eh? itself will not be affected. The comic will still post normally every Sunday night/Monday morning for your enjoyment. How else can I debunk the theory that the elven newcomer is NOT Kissless? XD (Uh, except for this week – I have  to finish an extremely important and non-WoW related project, so the comic will most likely not be up this weekend. BUT I do have this Wednesday off, but I have other things planned, so…yeah. No promises. >_>; )

Thanks again for everyone’s continued support! Cow powah!

What a Long, Strange Journey It’s Been

September 27th, 2009 | by Kelly
Posted In: Blog

As stated, there is unfortunately no comic this week – that was because of the crapton of work I have to get done. Funny, as there is another crapton of work to get done, but don’t worry, the comics will return. :3 On a better note, this gives me a chance to talk to you all about something very important.

This Friday, on October 2nd, World of Warcraft, Eh? will celebrate it’s first birthday! Yes, my wacky webcomic started, from it’s very humble beginnings, waaaaay over on SmackJeeves (the free webcomic-hosting site), one year from next Friday. With the help of my coder, Prototype, WoW Eh was transferred over to where it is now, within ComicPress, on November 11th.  Over the course of a single year, WoW Eh has gone from just silly doodles with text bubbles to a full-fledged, respectable webcomic. Who do I have to thank for that?

YOU guys.

Without all of you, the comic would have most likely not made it past a few months. Through all of you, I have learned the joys of having a community, a fanbase, and knowing some of the most amazing people in my life. Even though I haven’t really met any of the WoW community face-to-face (hope to change that one day!), you guys have made everything, from comicking to day-to-day life a real adventure. Hell, you guys have kept me sane! XD

Now, to thank all of you for allowing the comic to come this far, WoW Eh is hosting it’s first contest! :D

“A contest?” you ask. “What is this contest you speak of?” Well, let me tell you!

The contest will be this: You may ask either Kissless, myself (Cadistra), or the both of us ONE question in this forum thread. One, and ONLY ONE. (Also, people who do run-on sentences and the like will be disqualified). Both Kissless and I will go through every question, and pick the best three. When I say ‘best of three,’ I mean anything from the funniest, to the most intelligent, to the most original, and things like that. Please, nothing of obscene nature, insulting, vulgar, and naughty things like that. :s

Now, the prizes for said contest are as follows:

  • 1st Place: First place will have their question answered in a comic to the appropriate character! The winner will also get to receive two signed prints of their choice!
  • 2nd Place: Second place will receive two signed prints of their choice!
  • 3rd Place: Third place will receive one signed print of their choice!

Best of luck to all who enter! (Please bear in mind that there will be no favouritism or anything of the sort. The best questions will win. Period.) The contest will be ending Saturday, October 3rd.

Now, onto some sweet fanart I got! :D

  • First up – a SMOKIN’ hot picture of Kissless by Loreli, hostess of Re-Roll!
  • An adorable pic of Marirosa’s Tauren Paladin, Brunhilda, talking to Cadistra. SO CUTE! XD
  • A wonderful pencil drawing of Cadistra by JusticeJuice! :D

Also gonna spam some links while I’m here:

- The Art of the Hunt is a new and wonderful blog featuring some fantastic art of outstanding hunters in the community.  So far, she’s done Rilgon and his pet Ayamiss, and Pikestaff and her raptor! Great stuff!

-Hosted by Brigwyn, Stompalina, Filmys and co, Azeroth United is a union of the Warcraft community – bloggers, gamers, artists, theorycrafters…everything and everyone. We’re uniting for some great causes – I know there’s a charity event percolating over there, so I can’t wait to see what’s coming up. I’m joining – come on over and take a look!

Thanks again for making WoW Eh a success, guys!

Too Hot to Handle

July 26th, 2009 | by Kelly
Posted In: Blog

Who is that unseen foe in the bushes? A demon? A spy? Brigwyn? Stay tuned next week – same cow time, same cow channel! For the record, Cadistra is a very patient and kind person…she, like anyone, has her limits, though. Anyways, I’d like to see you be kind and chartitable in 45 degree weather. XD

Just a reminder as well – if you want your prints to go out in the first batch, make sure you place your order by this Friday/early Saturday, as I will be printing and shipping them.

Now, for news from the WoW blog-o-sphere! (Do people still call it that?)

-There are a couple of delicious-looking recipes up at Nourish!, the WoW-themed food and nutrition blog! Make sure you swing by and sample some of that good eatin’!

-Jezriyah had a great post on her blog, When Enraged, talking about the tenuous ‘treaty’ between the Alliance and the Horde. What will it take for Thrall to put a stop to Garrosh’s unsavoury attitude? Is King Varian really just a war-monger looking for an excuse to fight, and, if so, just how far will he go? I highly recommend checking this out.

In other site news…

-Fanart section updated.

-Two new links added to the WoW blogroll:

-Stabalized Effort Scope, aka ‘The Realm of the Raging Blueberry’, by Rilgon

-Aspect of the Hare by Pikestaff

Both are very nice people with very nice hunter blogs. Why are there so many hunter bloggers? Did I miss something? lol…

And…that’s about it. :D I’m getting very busy with personal projects, so in about two weeks, there will either be no comic, or a very ‘light’ one I had planned. Depends on the schedule, really. *shrug*

~And the cow says moo

~Kelly

PS – I made a LOL! :D Now you Alliance folk can’t say I never do anything for you… ;)

Hey all,

The comic is going to be late (If you haven’t already noticed by now). I was out of town on family bznss, and didn’t get back until late afternoon yesterday. I do apologize for the lack of comic-ness, and will almost certainly have it done late tonight.

Thanks for your patience!
