Hi everyone! Yes, I live! I’m trying my hardest to solo the dreaded ‘Holiday Season’ (level ??; elite), and while it’s tough, I think I’m winning! XD Things have been super hectic, what with the holidays, birthdays, friends, family, and work (both Fit Brains and Byron). I hope everyone is having a wonderful holiday so far!
On a more personal note, the wrist and the arm are getting worse. :/ No, I’m not boo-hooing, or looking for hugs or whatever, just letting you guys know. My wrist surgery is near the end of January, where I’ll be bound to the old ‘breadbag and bathtub’ way of life (having a cast) for about 7-10 days. If my left arm/hand don’t work, then I don’t work! ^_^;; (And to the guy who was bitching at me earlier for ‘not doing what I promised I would do’ – *flips the bird* )
I’ve also been allowing myself to enjoy WoW a bit more these last few weeks! (Also love how people are bitching at me for this, too…lol) Thanks to my wonderful guildies – especially our intrepid leader – I have now, after more than a year of release, finally seen the Wrathgate cinema. Yes!! I also did the Battle for Undercity last night too! I was a good cow, and never spoiled the Wrathgate for myself by watching it on YouTube or whatever. I was blown away. The entire quest line leading up to it (and all of Dragonblight, for that matter!) were some of the most thrilling and detailed quests I had done in a long time. The game truly felt personal, like I really was the brave and stalwart hero the Horde had asked for. I haven’t watched the Alliance version yet, but I will soon so I can compare the two myself. All in all, amazing.
Recently, I had been thinking about the long and winding path I have been taking as an artist. Even though I am by no means ‘good,’ I am an industry artist, and one day hope to be that ‘good.’ Now, while my full-time career takes priority, I am also beginning to step into the greater depths of drawing webcomics. Now, I am no Penny Arcade, I am no Scott Kurtz, and I am no Jeph Jacques. I would never attempt to make a full-time, life-supporting gig out of either WoW Eh or Byron. Anyways, if I tried, Blizzard would sick their bloodthirsty lawyers on me, and I don’t want my legs broke. D:
But, on a serious and artistic note, how ‘far’ do I want to take this? WoW Eh started out as a fun side project, but now it’s become this…entity; this artistic creature that has evolved slowly over the last year, and has now become a part of my life. I’m not trying to be all hoity-toity artsy-fartsy here, I’m just making an observation. I mean, due to legal reasons, I could never publish a book or anything of it, but I’m curious to see what will happen and how far I will take it in the future.
Or I could just be totally blabbering. I dunno. ;P
Also as this new year comes to a close, I really want to thank you all again for your love, kindness, and support for both comics. Thank you all (well, MOST of you, anyways…grrr) for understanding that December is a crazy, crazy month, and thank you all for being so patient! Go open presents, light a menorah, eat goodies, and toast to the new year these next two weeks! When you return, I’ll try my best to have the next page of WoW Eh waiting for you.
~Kelly

Future pinups/prints (site design?)

It was a lot of fun getting to see Wrathgate and Battle for UC through your eyes, Cadi
I’ve done them both about 6 or 7 times now… it’s exciting to see someone enjoying it for the first time!
Have an awesome holiday
thanks for sharing your art with us this year!
Will u put another comic out before you aren’t able to do anymoar?
Whilst I love WoW eh? and Byron and would love more I fully understand the situation with your hand. You need to let it rest and recover and get yourself better. You really ARE a good artist so don’t put yourself down and a few comics have almost caused me to burst out laughing at work.
The Wrathgate is an awesome questline although 3 out of 4 times I’ve been caught out by the elevator and fell to my death. You’d think that I’d have remebered after the first time wouldn’t you?
Have a really good Christmas and don’t let the Trolls get you down.
Get your christmas chores done and take a nice, well deserved rest hun. And dont worry about all the bad-mouthers, im sure santa has some nice coal for their stocking
I look forward to the comic throughout 2010. Enjoy your Holidays ^.^
@Cloymax – ‘Aren’t able to do any more’? Umm…not too sure what you mean, but more comics will be coming for sure! Byron is still consistently updating, and WoW Eh will begin in early January.
Hahah, I don’t see what they’re complaining about really, you’re a human, not a robot, you got your needs too to relax. XD
I remember when I first was the Wrathgate cinema too, holy crud it was awesome~
Battle for Undercity was cool too, not getting eaten alive my Horde by just because I wanted to visit. XD (I’m a more Neutral person, I love both Alliance and Horde. XD SO I “visit” Horde cities, not to really raid them or anything.)
Good luck with your wrist! Last Christmas I finished a hectic semester of physics, and then played (too much WoW) to relax. A week later I was vacationing in Japan and my wrist absolutely spazzed. All of that writing for school, drawing for fun, and mouse using in WoW had combined to agitate the heck out of it. It was interesting to see a Japanese hospital, though! Anyway I’m saying I can appreciate how much it can hurt and how debilitating what something that seems small and simple can be. Good luck, and I look forward to your triumphant return.
Erm, I’m not sure why you consider yourself not being able to be on the same level than PA (comic-wise, not necessarily organizing convention). You aren’t far away, in my opinion. You are a gifted artist, just keep drawing
I just wanted to express my gratitude for all your hard work. I love your comics and I am very religious reader. I hope your wrist heals well and you can get back to doing what you love! Just know that there are many of us (at least one, me!) who not only appreciate what you do, but also consider you one of the best artists out there, even at the level of Penny Arcade, Scott Kurtz, and Jeph Jacques.
And who knows, maybe Blizz will come knocking on your door one day asking you to make a comic series for them.
Good luck and happy holidays!
I have loved getting to know your comics this year. Some people are just too cruel to realize the blessings they are getting through your art and storytelling. As much as I love the stories you are telling, you are more important than any webcomic. You need to make sure you take care of yourself first, then your real job, and then comics. Those of us who appreciate you will be here when you can continue. Hope you have a wonderful holiday, and that your family and friends all love the presents you showed on Twitter.
I command that you get a specialized mouse helmet that tracks eye movement so you can draw with your eyeballs. I r serious fan, with serious demands!
RAWR!
Joking aside, hope your surgery goes well. Don’t rush your recovery, and go as fast as your own good sense tells you.
Love the comic (both this and on Wow.com), you have skills kiddo. Your fans will wait.
Hope your arm gets feeling better. Your comics are awesome. Look forward to seeing more of ‘em.
You take your time to get fit again. Or else.
RAWRBOMB!
Understood?
Keep it up Kelly!
Alliance Questline for the wrathgate cinematic is all about blowing stuff up under Naxx, then meeting up with highlod Bolvar, then more stuff explodes, you kill a lich, then the cinematic. So its like a Hollwood blockbuster meets lord of the rings. *Thumbs up*
You – left wrist
Me – right wrist
I don’t draw my stuff (yet), but I can understand the situation you’re in. With me, it’s all about the mouse…and…yeah. Ow.
Then there’s this medieval torture device that’s euphemistically called a “brace”…it helps, but…damn.
Get some rest, get some meds, get some alcohol, whatever. You’ve built a fan base and we’re not going anywhere – be it WoW, Eh?, Byron, or whatever else you may have planned
Holiday blessings and best of wishes for the new year!
- Tokkar
Hmm as a musician i can DEFINATELY sympathize with your wrist, i had to learn how to play “through the fire and the flames” and all i can say is OUCH, it hurts to play with a healthy wrist lol, well i hope recover soon, and have a merry christmas
I don’t care if u arent looking for hugs.
*hug*
take your time! wrists injuries fucking hurt.
take care of yourself first. I really enjoy your work and do look forward to seeing new material, but your hands are your life so take care of them. We can weather the storm while you mend. hugs and happy hoildays
Stupid Wrist.
Stupid… natural healing…
Dangit, where’s a useful Cure Wrist spell when you need one? Doctors and cell division are too slow.
Guh, do people not realize there is another person on the other side of the internet from them? That web comics don’t just magically appear?
Stoopid peoples.
Take care of yourself first! We can wait! Better to wait a bit than to never see another comic because you’re broken.
More pin-ups of Cadistra, please.
If you think about it, every time a comic gets posted here it is like magic. I find myself smiling and giggling when I would otherwise bear a natural frown, if you do not get some time off and get well, I would be truly unhappy. I look forward to seeing more of your wonderful works, but do rest first.
Kirilia of Arathor and Tortheldrin
First, of course, is have a good and restful holiday; or at least as restful as you wish! Second, of more course, comes to get your hand taken care of.
The rest will follow
On the Wrathgate:
I remember standing amidst the fire and wildflowers, hearing broken cries in too many languages; and it didn’t matter if they were Alliance or Horde … just one funeral dirge.
And standing there, only then could you see the chain of falling dominoes that brought you to that saronite gate … and somehow wish you never, ever pushed the first one down.
*********************
I remember standing there, having just picked up the shield, having just accepted that final quest.
And I knew it would have been a simple turn in; Kirin-Tor ring port to Dalaran, portal to Stormwind, and then it’s just a hop too the castle.
But somehow it didn’t seem right.
So I summoned my Dreadsteed, rode to the Temple. Flew to the Tundra, to take the boat to Menethil. I know I could have gone straight to the port, but that wouldhave been wrong … so I crossed into the human lands at Redridge, to return to Stormwind through the forest of Elwynn … across the bridge … beneath the forever gaze of the city’s guardians.
So yes … I do understand about wanting to experience the story and letting it play through. The Wrathgate was a very powerful story.
Nelli didn’t feel like a hero.
But she had just stood with one.
************************************
And if you have any interest in a gnome’s point of view of that questline, tag the link and look for the matched pair of stories Hero/Heroine
I’m sorry your wrist is feeling worse. Allow me to join the chorus of fans urging you to take care and have a relaxing holiday. And I wish you well as you think about the future of your comic endeavors.
The Wrathgate scene is possibly the most momentous moment Blizzard has put in the game so far. My wife and I worked up to it together, and we had to log off after the Battle for UC and just mull it over. I’m glad you hadn’t been spoiled before you did it.
In regards to the income thing, I’d suggest offering commissions (after your wrist heals up, obviously, hope that all goes well) but it seems you have the sort of following that would quickly make that spiral out of control. D: Which kinda sucks cause I’d be one of those people ready to throw money at you for a nice piece of character arts.
There was a ton of crazy Wrathgate speculation in beta. People were making ridiculous assumptions based on a few of the quests that had their objectives datamined. Said assumptions included Thrall dying and Voljin becoming the new leader of Undercity.
take as much time as you want to fix your wrist. Just ignore the dumb asses.
I remember when I had a wrist injury of my own. not gonna go into detail but i kno you pain <3
I’m sure Gabe and Tyco sometimes feel like they are no Charles Schulz or the like…I think you’ll be around for a while.
i love your comic, i think its just one of those thigs you read that put a good start on the weak, take time to heal, most of us will gladly wait for and hope the best, from a BIG fan HAPPY HOLIDAYS
hope the surgery goes well and that you make a full recovery ^__^ and as to anyone giving you flak about it *Beats them with a broken toaster* just keep doing what your doing and have a happy newyear ^^
We’re fine girl. Real life is what it is. Happy holidays. We’ll be here waiting with anticipation for what’s going to happen to our fav. Tauren gal.
Main thing – take care of yourself and heal up really well before you try to do anymore. If you push it too soon you might just hurt yourself mor.
We don’t want that!
UGH!!! I always post after my post because I think of things after the fact. UGH… I wish I could alaways edit!
I just wanted to say that I was OVERJOYED when I found the slumbering Ysera in Northrend. I stayed there as long as possible. I love her and REALLY hope she’s not the next dragon to go, “loopy” as some sugest (or EVER). She’s lost a lot in her long life and given even more. She’s a wonderful matron to all of the beings who love the natural world and Dreaming.
Thanks for sharing your experience w/ her.
I’m done – I promise. XD
Good for you for waging war on the holidays.Hope it drops epic loot. Also to people who complain
. I envy you, you’re a good artist and your webcomic is always worth the wait. Enjoy WoW too. It’s a fun game/addiction. Have a good rest of your holiday!
